Hi Roger

Yes it was me I think, when I ordered my stream, I asked the
sales person at humanware uk and she told me that they would
be continuing to support the old stream for the foreseeable
future, will check with them tomorrow and report back.

Regards

Adrien

Back when the new Stream was launched someone on this list
reported having called Humanware and being told that
firmware updates for the old Stream would continue. I felt a
bit skeptical about that, but I kept quiet and adopted a
wait-and-see attitude. I do not remember who reported that.
If the person is still here and remembers that can you tell
us exactly what the Humanware representative said to the
best of your memory.

Frankly, the first generation Stream doesn't need
any firmware updates. It's as complete as it can be, and
there are no issues, that I know of, that would be solved
with a firmware update. And, I don't think that it will
ever be obsoleted by changes in the DAISY formats, audio
file formats, etc. I intend to use mine until I kill it,
and that's not happening soon. It'll be three years old at
the end of this month.

Yeah, that was my thought, too, but if Humanware is
not providing any more updates, that sad day may come sooner
than we expected!

Thanks very much for this clarification.

Hopefully, it will help others than just me.

Eventually, I probably will acquire a
second-generation Stream, but not until one of my two
first-generation Streams becomes non-functional.

Firmware

Hi, Gary and Tom. The firmware is
version 4.03. I tried to update the
			firmware because Gary mentioned that
there was a later firmware. Gary, I
			didn't receive a notification for a
later update.

			No, Tom, the firmware version
mentioned in Gary's message is only for the
			second generation stream. Correct
me if I'm wrong, but Humanware tech
			support representatives have told me
that there will be no further first
			generation firmware updates.
